On the afternoon of May 14th, Xiaojuan Jiang, President of China Industrial Economics Association and former Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, and Jian Wang, member of Jinhua Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of Yiwu Municipal Party Committee, visited the group’s Yiwu operation center for investigation and guidance. President Tom Tang warmly received the leaders.
Accompanied by Tom Tang, President Jiang and Secretary Wang first visited the exhibition hall with great interest and exchanged views, occasionally inquiring about the origin, export markets, and quality standards of the products. They appreciated MU’s procurement model, comprehensive supply chain system, and emphasis on product development and design. They were also very concerned about the difficulties and impacts on the foreign trade industry caused by rising labor costs, order transfers, and other macro-environmental factors, as well as the countermeasures taken by enterprises.
President Tom Tang first reported the business overview, business model, and main export market distribution of the group. He stated that after the “Thousand People Southward” Canton Fair, MU is actively promoting the “Thousand People Expedition” campaign, taking a series of measures to proactively participate in overseas exhibitions, visiting customers, and aggressively seeking orders and expanding markets. The group is also vigorously working on Alibaba International Station, Made in China, Global Sources, and other online B2B platforms, developing Amazon, TikTok, and other cross-border C-side businesses, constantly increasing its online market share, and aiming to become Asia’s largest cross-border B2B procurement company and overseas e-commerce supply chain management company within three years. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the group, and he expressed sincere gratitude to the Yiwu Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government for their long-term care and support for the company’s development and policy assistance.
President Jiang and Secretary Wang affirmed the group’s pragmatic actions in serving customers, tapping potential demand, and expanding overseas markets on a large scale in spite ofthe complex and changeable global macro environment and weak external demand. They hoped that the company would continue to carry forward the spirit of strivement and demonstrate its due responsibility; they also expressed support for MU’s continued optimism about the development of Yiwu, proactive adaptation, accelerated digitization transformation of traditional trade, construction of new MU Building in Financial Business District, and formation of industrial agglomeration effects over the past 20 years. They asked relevant departments to conduct in-depth field investigations, increase talent introduction efforts, provide various types of element security services, and continue supporting leading enterprises to grow bigger and stronger.
After 25 years of localization and cultivation in Yiwu, the Yiwu Operation Center has developed into one of the largest foreign trade export groups in Jinhua and Yiwu. The Yiwu Operation Center now has more than 10 wholly-owned and holding subsidiaries and business divisions engaged in foreign trade exports. There are nearly 1,000 employees in Yiwu’s export trade, mostly with bachelor’s degrees or above, and 1/4 of them are proficient in a second foreign language. The office and exhibition area exceeds 25,000 square meters, and the logistics area exceeds 18,000 square meters.
